ExxonMobil names Paul L. Kleijnen as new President

MOSCOW – ExxonMobil has appointed Paul L. Kleijnen as president and lead country manager of ExxonMobil Russia Inc., and executive chairman of Exxon Neftegas Ltd., effective February 1. Paul will be based in Moscow.

Prior to his appointment, Paul was the development manager for ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc. overseeing the company’s commercial interests in the Kashagan and Tengiz ventures, and the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.

Paul joined ExxonMobil in 1986 in the Netherlands, and has held a variety of management positions in the corporation’s production, natural gas marketing, refining and fuels marketing organizations with assignments in Australia, India, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Qatar, Russia, United Kingdom and the United States.

From 2011 through 2013, Paul worked in Moscow as the gas and power marketing commercial manager and vice president of Exxon Neftegas Limited, managing ExxonMobil’s natural gas business in Russia. This assignment comprised commercialization of Sakhalin-1’s significant gas resources. 

Proficient in Russian, Paul holds a master’s degree in industrial engineering from the Eindhoven Technical University.
